Will Feinberg
Jazz Piano / Classical Piano / Arranging / Composition / Production / Pop & Jazz Vocals / Beginning Guitar
Will Feinberg is a new arrival to Los Angeles, and while he may be new in town, he's not at all new to the piano nor the classroom.
After spending his childhood in Metro Detroit studying classical piano and jazz, Will moved to New Orleans to further his study of jazz and Black American music in 2015. As a staple on the New Orleans music scene for almost 10 years, Will played in bands featuring Grammy winners and members of seminal New Orleans RnB groups such as Dr. John and the Nitetrippers, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters.
He also has performed at New Orleans Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest and Essence Fest, served as music director for two churches and played thousands of shows around the US and internationally (UK, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, China, Thailand). As a composer and arranger, Will has won the 2024 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the 2019 Essence Fest New Orleans Showcase.
As an educator, Will has run his own private studio for 5 years and has had the pleasure of teaching over 50 students ages 6 to 78 in all facets of music, from beginner piano to advanced jazz, songwriting, arranging, production, voice and more. Will held a post at Loyola University New Orleans for 3 years as a staff accompanist and as a staff instructor, teaching group piano in the Pop and Commercial Music Program.
He believes that music is for everyone, at any level and loves connecting with students. On teaching, Will says, "I teach because I enjoy it. It's extremely rewarding to see a student grasp a concept or technique that you've been teaching them and then run with it. There's nothing better than a student coming into a lesson and saying something like "Check out what I did this week!" Additionally, teaching helps me learn. I love music and even though I've been studying it for 25+ years, I'm always learning something new with my students."
