This question is often asked by prospective students, and the answer varies for each individual. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. From students studying serious classical music, people who want to be accomplished pop and jazz players, to professional musicians that want to fine tune their craft, the teachers at Knauer Pianos Music School cater to everyone. They work with you to make a plan that fits your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite types of music and set goals to accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
We have over 25 highly dedicated and experienced teachers that are accomplished in classical, jazz, hip-hop, folk, rock, country, blues, gospel, religious and various cultural music, as well as composition and improvisation.

In the case of a younger student the parents are involved in the process of determining the path for the student. Our priority is to have clear and regular communication with parents, keeping them apprised of the students direction and progress.

We consider every first lesson to be a trial lesson, but because 99% of all our students continue with their lessons, we set you up for success. This is how it works:
Your credit card will not be charged until 2 days after your first lesson. Following your initial lesson, if you wish to be charged for a single lesson rather than the discounted monthly rate, please email [email protected] within 48 hours of your first lesson and you will be billed for the one lesson only. Should we not receive your email within this timeframe, we will reserve your spot with the teacher, and payment will be required to cover the first lesson and the remaining weekly lessons for that month. Please note that there is a $35 registration fee charged at the time of registration. You have the option to change your lesson type or adjust the length of your lesson at the beginning of the upcoming month.
Our make-up policy is designed to optimize convenience for our students and instructors. Your tuition covers four lessons per month. In months with five weeks, the fifth lesson serves as either a make-up opportunity or a complimentary bonus lesson. This provides a student with four make-up opportunities annually. These four make-up sessions fall on the student’s regular weekly day and time, eliminating the need to do any make-up scheduling.
Feel free to use these four make-up lessons whether you gave 24 hours notice or not, though we encourage respecting your instructor's time by giving them notice if you can’t make your lesson. If you haven't missed a lesson when the fifth lesson occurs, you may consider it a complimentary bonus lesson.
Holidays: We are open 365 days a year for lessons. In the event of a holiday that is not observed by both you and your teacher, you are welcome to conduct your lesson at one of our stores. If a student is unable to attend a lesson due to a holiday, they can utilize one of the four designated make-up days. These make-up opportunities are conveniently scheduled during the fifth week in months with five weeks.
In cases where the teacher is absent, we may provide you with a substitute, or you and your instructor may schedule a make-up on a different day than your regular lesson or add on extra time to your regular lesson. If we fail to offer a substitute or you and your instructor cannot schedule a make-up, we will issue a refund.
Please note that if a student is 15 minutes late to their lesson without contacting their instructor, the lesson may be considered canceled.
Tuition is designed to reserve the teacher's time and the studio space weekly and is due even if the student cannot attend all their lessons.
