Diane’s joy of playing piano and singing are contagious. She has pursued her passions since the age of six. Diane was a Music Education major in college. She teaches beginning to advanced levels of piano and beginning voice lessons- all ages and styles-Bach to Rock. Diane is also prepares students for the ABRSM EXAMS ( https://www.abrsm.org/en-gb/instruments/piano).
Ms. Louis’ teaching style is fun, positive, and patient. She customizes her lessons to the way each student learns and their individual goals. Knowledge of the music basics- note-reading, rhythm, theory, understanding and communicating a piece of music, and creativity are the foundation of her approach. Diane incorporates the pieces that students really want to play as soon as possible so they enjoy practicing and playing.
Diane performance background includes being featured on Dick Clark's American Bandstand, Steele Pier when she was in High School. She also performed in many piano competitions at New York City's Carnegie Town Hall.
Educationally, Diane was a Music Education major in college and has studied with teachers from Curtis, Manhattan School of Music, and Juilllard. Diane has a Certificate in Recreation Therapy which gives her expertise in working with students with creative ways of learning.
Diane is a composer and Songwriter. She studied with Grammy-award winner, Hugh Prestwood at the New School in NYC and with Lorraine Ferro at the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. She was a board member of the Connecticut Songwriter's Association. She has written songs that have been published commercially for vocalists and movies.
While Diane can teach to the highest, advanced levels of piano, she also loves her younger students 3 and up and brings a wide range of of talents to KMS.
