Zoe Hartenbaum is a contemporary classical violist originally from Philadelphia and currently living and performing in and around Southern California. She spent 2 years studying at the Peabody Conservatory under internationally renowned solo and orchestral violist, Richard Field, where she found an affinity for performance & alternative instrument technique. After her professor unexpectedly retired, Zoe relocated to California, where she currently studies Performance at the California Institute of The Arts, and works as a freelance musician. She was on faculty at the Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra’s Petit division during the 2017-2018 season, and has taught a private studio of young violinists and violists for the past 5 years. Zoe strives above all else to create a comfortable and uplifting learning environment to best encourage a healthy and lasting relationship with the student and the instrument.
