Lily Lyons is a professional multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance and Songwriting from Berklee College of Music, with scholarships awarded for outstanding work in the performance department. During her studies she excelled in jazz, classical, folk, and pop styles under the mentorship of Sandra Kott (former concertmaster, Portland Symphony Orchestra) and fiddler Darol Anger.
As a performer Lily has shared the stage with Kenny Werner, and Karim Wasfi (Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra), and has done extensive session work for film and game scores including strings for the video game Airspace: Fall of Gravity. Her songwriting and composition skills won her an honorable mention in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition and have her regularly working with major-label pop artists.
Lily’s teaching style balances a strong technical foundation with making room for the student to grow creatively through improvising, writing original music, and exploring different genres. She believes in tailoring her curriculum to the student’s unique goals and ways of learning to foster a positive, engaged lesson experience.
