Elder Gindroz is a pianist, composer, and teacher from Studio City, California. He is currently a jazz piano major at Cal State Northridge studying with Gary Fukushima. Elder performs in the CSUN A Band Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Tina Raymond as well as various jazz combos. He recently was given the opportunity to perform with the Jazz A band at the Loyola University jazz festival in New Orleans.
Elder started playing piano and composing at age seven. He was classically trained but began his love for jazz in middle and high school. He has performed at numerous festivals and events throughout school and was awarded the Performer of the Year scholarship from Hamilton High School in his senior year. He was also recognized by The Music Center’s Spotlight program as a Semi finalist in 2021 for the jazz instrumental category. Elder also participated in LAUSD’s Jazz in Classroom program with Dr. JB Dyas, and was a jazz student at the Colburn School. He has been the recipient of merit scholarships through CSUN and from the The Herb Alpert Foundation. Elder’s strengths include music theory, transcription, and improvisation.
Elder performs at venues throughout Los Angeles and enjoys sharing his passion for music and piano with his students.
