What is taught in your lesson?

This question is often asked by prospective students, and the answer varies for each individual. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. From students studying serious classical music, people who want to be accomplished pop and jazz players, to professional musicians that want to fine tune their craft, the teachers at Knauer Pianos Music School cater to everyone. They work with you to make a plan that fits your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite types of music and set goals to accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.

WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO WE OFFER?

We have over 25 highly dedicated and experienced teachers that are accomplished in classical, jazz, hip-hop, folk, rock, country, blues, gospel, religious and various cultural music, as well as composition and improvisation.

What are your teacher's qualifications?

Many of our teachers are graduates of prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music, California State University at Northridge, Manhattan School of Music, Indiana University, Charles University in Prague, and Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.

What ages do you teach?

We teach both adults and children from ages three and up. We teach all levels from beginning to advanced. Our teachers are highly qualified to support all levels of players and make the lessons meaningful, rich and interesting for all ages.

HOW ARE PARENTS KEPT INFORMED OF THEIR STUDENT'S PROGRESS?

In the case of a younger student the parents are involved in the process of determining the path for the student. Our priority is to have clear and regular communication with parents, keeping them apprised of the students direction and progress.

Can my lesson be at a time that works with my busy schedule?

We seem to always be able to offer a time that makes our students happy. We are open 7 days a week from 9 AM to 9 PM for lessons, so you can select a time that fits your schedule comfortably.

Is the lesson at the same time each week?

Yes, after you find a time that works well for your schedule we book the lesson at the same time each week. If you can't make your lesson one week and cancel giving us 24 hours notice, you are entitled to a make up lesson on a different day from your regular lesson or by adding on extra time to your regular lesson.

Does your school provide the instruments?

We provide high quality acoustic pianos at our school for piano students to take their lesson on. We provide an electric drum kit, bass guitar and amplifier in our teaching studios for drum and bass guitar students. We ask that students taking any other instrumental lessons please bring their own instrument each week to their lesson.

Do you rent or sell instruments?

We rent and sell pianos and digital pianos and we have a great rent to own program. We can help you rent or purchase most other instruments. We also stock the important music books you need.

An example of rental rates: Piano rental start at $25 a month. Violin rentals start at $20 a month

How long is the duration of each lesson?

We offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute lessons.

What are the rates for private lessons taught at your school?

Do you offer Lessons in the home?

Yes, we offer both lessons in the home and at our schools. Most students take their lessons at our schools but we offer in-home lessons throughout the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, Conjeo Valley and Ventura County areas.

Can I take a trial lesson?

Absolutely, we encourage you to take a trial lesson. You may take a pro-rated trial class on any instrument we teach or voice lesson. A 30 minute intrumental trial lesson costs $32.00 and gives you/your child the opportunity to meet with the instructor, discuss what you would like to accomplish, and experience taking a lesson. After that, you may decide to register and enroll in our monthly lesson program.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

If you cancel your lesson giving us 24 hour advance notice, you are entitled to a make up lesson on a different day from your regular lesson or by adding on extra time to a regular lesson. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hour notice are not eligible to receive a makeup lesson, although (exceptions in cases of emergencies may be made). Our teachers are highly qualified and dedicated to you or your child, so we ask if you would please consider and value their time when you are planning to miss a lesson.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We are able to only accept Pre-authorized Credit Cards or Debit Cards set up for monthly auto pay. The monthly auto pay can be canceled simply by notifying us in writing that you need to discontinue lessons. We need to receive this notification 15 days before the first of the coming month that you wish to discontinue and your auto pay program will be deactivated starting on the 1st of the coming month. The auto pay program can't be deactivated mid month, so if something prevents you from taking a full month of lessons, you would have make up lessons coming when you re-enroll.

When do I have to pay for lessons?

You won't be billed until two days after your first lesson. If you do not wish to continue your lessons, just call us within 24 hours after your lesson and you will be billed for the one lesson only. If we do not hear from you, tuition will be prorated for the month. On future months, your auto payment with be on the first of each month.

Do I have to be in a long term agreement?

We want you to feel comfortable to enjoy your music lessons and pressure is the last thing we want you to have. We don't require a long term commitment. We understand that it is best for everyone, if students are here by their own choice. To cancel your monthly tuition contract, simply notify us in writing 15 days before the first of the coming month that you wish to discontinue lessons and your auto pay program will not charge again on all future months.

What if there are 5 weeks in a month, am I charged extra?

You are not charged extra on months with 5 weeks. You receive 5 lessons for the same monthly price during months that have 5 weeks.
